Knitting Therapy

Princess Pea's new hat

Sometimes, you just have to knit. I taught myself to knit (with a few pointers from those more experienced) and I love it. There is something about the yarn moving through my hands, the repetitious motion, and the counting that soothes me.
Trying a new pattern

After a long day staring at a computer screen, endless household chores, and kids that keep me hopping, it is a relaxing way to wind down before bed.

If I get the right pattern, I can nearly knit in my sleep now. Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one…just have to count the rows. Very therapeutic…

I love to know that I am creating something warm and cozy for someone I love. It warms my heart knowing that the hat I am working on will keep a little’s ears warm this winter, or that the cowl will be amazing with the jacket my niece wears. I have plans for many Christmas gifts this year, for family and friends, all homemade (not necessarily all knit though…) I am so excited…I can’t wait to see their faces!

On to the next one....

Knitting is also the time I find myself thinking on God. I can sit in silence and hear His voice, listen for His instructions, and thank Him for His grace and mercy. It is my God Girl time and I treasure every second.

A Little Christmas Shopping

1Hello Dear Friends! I'm trying to take a deep breath and relax after a day of shopping and running! Took my Jeep on for tires and ball joints. While it was in the shop we went shopping and to lunch and more shopping.
Now I love to shop but anyone who knows me knows crowds drive me absolutely crazy! My anxiety level goes through the roof and I get really irritable. It is easier when Honey or the kids are around to make me laugh. Today Honey and Princess Pea were with!
Me and my Girl!! :) Ready for Shopping!
After dropping off the Jeep he headed out to our first stop- Best Buy. Of course the store was crowded and crazy, but I was excited to find some stuff for Cookie Monster. At 18, he is so hard to buy for.
Lunch at TGI Fridays!
Then it was off to TGI Fridays for lunch! Yummy burgers with Green Bean Fries!
Then it was off to Kohl's, Hobby Lobby, and the Mall! Then I was done! Tired, run down, and cold!

Sitting in the Sunshine!

Yummy!

Tomorrow we are supposed to get 3 to 5 inches of snow! So far it is still pretty brown! It will be a decorating and baking kind of day! But tonight its snuggling and knitting!
No Snow Yet!

Relaxing night!

Tonight I am relaxing. I came home from work and cleaned up the rest of my baking mess from last night and worked on some laundry. I also helped Princess Pea with her homework! Ha! What she has as 7th grade math, I remember having in high school! I am proud to say she made Honor Roll for the first quarter!

There was also some sad news today. Nelson Mandela died today at the age of 95. Some may consider him a violent terrorist, but he was a man who fought for freedom & what he believed in. May he rest in peace knowing that he changed, affected, and saved so very many lives. I am honored to have lived during his piece of history.

More news, one of my favorite managers put in his retirement yesterday. He has always called me " Sarge". He took my initials (SRJ) And came up with the nickname. Could be worse I could be "Taco" like my boss. Ha! Ha! I really will miss him!

Looks like I will have to make more cookies! Between Cookie Monster and his friends, the will eat them all! That's Ok that is what they are for! I will make more for neighbors and friends, just not tonight!

So I am off to spend the rest of the evening knitting & reading and enjoying my family. Maybe there will be a good Christmas movie on and an early bedtime sounds lovely.
